Deborah Mason Founder of talkhealth

talkhealth was founded in 2000 by Deborah Mason, with the development of the first website talkeczema, prompted by her daughter’s chronic eczema condition.  Although fully supported by family, friends and health professionals, Deborah quickly realised there was a real need for similar support for others less fortunate than herself. 

There were two main things that struck Deborah whilst on her quest for a solution to her daughter’s very distressing condition. Firstly was how time consuming it was piecing together all the disparate information she found, and secondly was the need to talk to others who were in a similar position; but where were they?

Thus sprang the idea of creating an entity that could be the answer to both of her problems.  The immediate success and response to talkeczema proved very quickly that others had exactly the same issues. If this was the case with such a well-known condition as eczema, then people with other health issues, and particularly lesser known conditions, were sure to be experiencing the same problems – and the idea of talkhealth was born.

Since those early days the company has now expanded and covers another five conditions – psoriasis, allergy, acne, asthma and menopause; with another six sites to be rolled out during 2011 and 2012. 

talkhealth has now grown into a team of like minded individuals – keen to provide  the latest information and support that is currently available.  Deborah is still very actively involved in the company’s product development and in particular focusing on the membership and patient interests. She is the chief Twitter, Blog and Facebook expert.
