Features - Rheumatoid Arthritis On the Rise in Women

One of the most common forms of arthritis is on the rise among women in the US, according to a study. It often starts between the ages of 40 and 50 and is three times more common in women than men.

Researchers from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota say rheumatoid arthritis cases rose 2.5% between 1995 and 2007, after 40 years of decline, but fell among men in the same 12-year period.

Rheumatoid arthritis affects around 350,000 people in the UK.
