Your Stories - Plant Oestrogens

Some thoughts on Soya and linseeds - Jo, Hitchin, UK

I started to eat loads of soya yogurt, and I think it was having an effect on my hot flushes, but I also started to be forgetful, and researching soya on the internet, I found that it can suppress the action of the thyroid. I have 2 friends who developed underactive thyroid at the menopause, and they both had a lot of soya in their diet. So personally I avoid soya. But I do eat a lot of linseeds, I grind these up every day to get the plant oestrogen and omega 3 fatty acids, I find these help to keep my skin and hair less dry.Contact Jo
